The Classic Jazz Copyist Look, Rebuilt for SMuFL
Some notation styles immediately say jazz. The slightly irregular lines, confident noteheads, boxed rehearsal marks, slashes, handwritten chord symbols and energetic text all work together to create a page that feels ready for the stand. BlueNotes was created for that world.
This is not just a decorative typeface. BlueNotes is a professional handwritten music font package for real notation work. It includes two compliant SMuFL music fonts and six matching jazzy text fonts, giving your music symbols and score text a consistent visual identity.

With more than 1400 music symbols and a RussMusic-like handwritten design, BlueNotes is especially useful when you want the feel of traditional jazz copywork without giving up the speed, accuracy and flexibility of Dorico, Finale or MuseScore.
8 Fonts for Professional Handwritten Jazz Scores
The BlueNotes package includes two SMuFL-compliant music fonts and six jazzy text fonts. That gives you a complete handwritten score language instead of a simple music-symbol replacement.
BlueNotes & BlueNotes II
Two compliant SMuFL music fonts for modern notation software, including access to different treble-clef styles and a broad handwritten symbol set.
6 Jazzy Text Fonts
Matching text fonts for titles, tempo markings, rehearsal marks, score directions, boxed text and other notation-related typography.
The result is a cohesive jazz page style where the notation, text and markings all feel like they belong to the same hand-copied score.
Built for Dorico, Finale v27+ and MuseScore 4.6+
BlueNotes is designed for real notation workflows on MacOS and Windows. Install the package, choose BlueNotes as your music font, then keep editing your score directly inside your notation software.
In Dorico, the included metadata lets the font appear in the list of available music fonts. You can choose BlueNotes or BlueNotes II and optionally apply recommended engraving options. In Finale v27+, you can set it as the default SMuFL music font from the document options.

RussMusic-Like Energy with a West Coast Copyist Feel
BlueNotes was made for musicians who want scores that look alive. Its handwritten shapes are bold, immediate and practical, with the kind of page character associated with classic jazz charts, Broadway copying and West Coast studio preparation.
Because BlueNotes includes a large SMuFL symbol library, it can move beyond simple lead sheets into larger arrangements, rhythm-section parts, full scores and notation-heavy educational material.

Boxed Texts and 4 Different Treble Clefs
BlueNotes is especially useful for jazz and commercial music because it supports the kind of boxed text and rehearsal markings that are part of the language of copied charts. The product also includes access to four different treble clefs, which can be selected through Dorico’s music symbol editing or Finale v27’s clef design options.
Boxed Text Styles
Create strong handwritten boxed indications for tempo text, rehearsal text and score instructions in Dorico and Finale v27.
4 Treble Clefs
Choose from multiple treble-clef personalities to better match the page character of the project.
